For my front cover I was originally going to have a yellow background, however I decided to change it as it looked too edited and not natural enough, e.g, the model did not have a shadow. Instead of a coloured background and a white title, I decided to leave the image with its original background and use a pastel coloured title to incorporate the colour, lilac, that I had intended to run throughout the entirety of the magazine. This gave a more realistic approach and the front cover did not look as edited and fake, giving it a more believable and realistic feel that a reader would be more drawn to. I had then decided to brighten the image so the background was much whiter and brought the model front more and made her more prominent on the page so she was the main focus.
Contents Page
This image was used for my contents page. To make it clear that my magazine has a broad audience of many differing music artists, I have not used the same artist throughout the magazine. It shows diversity of differing artists to appeal to a wider audience. The image was initially very dark and dreary and did not conform with my vision of a light, bright indie magazine. To solve this issue, like the cover photo, I enhanced the brightness to increase the vision of the picture. It makes the image fit with the rest of the magazine so the theme runs throughout and shows consistency. The image was also cropped so there was more of a focus on the model in the shot as apposed to the background she is surrounded by.
Double Page Spread
The image used for my double page spread does not conform to stereotypical magazine images as the model is not displaying direct mode of address. Instead, she is looking down towards the ground. This shows a more informal feel, which is perfect for my teenage target audience. Despite her not looking directly at the camera, the image was once again enhanced and brightened to make her appear to be in a lighter and brighter environment. The image was also slightly altered with the spot healing tool to remove any blemishes etc.
