Initially, I wanted a coloured background for my magazine front cover as it was supposed to be minimalistic and neat, yet still have a pop of colour to reflect the upbeat genre of music displayed in the magazine. However, I disliked the way the background looked as it was not natural enough due to their being no shadow etc.
On my final front cover, I used the actual image with its normal plain white background, however I enhanced the brightness in Photoshop so the background was a brighter white, so the text could be more obvious on the background. I also frequently used the spot healing tool to fix any blemishes and make the final image look flawless and perfect which conforms to the stereotypical vision of magazines which are all perfectly created with the models having no imperfections. In Photoshop I also added the Masthead and the bar code. For the bar code, I got an image from google images and cropped it to fit the bottom right hand corner of the front cover. I used the text tool to insert the masthead. Firstly, I duplicated the layer and then I used the crop tool to place the masthead behind the image of the model. |
